Rajpura–Bathinda doubling.

The Rajpura–Bathinda corridor carries freight and passenger traffic through some of Punjab's densest agricultural districts. Doubling it means building a parallel formation, bridges and crossings while the existing line stays in service throughout.

Scope of works

• Formation, earthwork and blanketing across 172.64 route kilometres
• Major and minor bridges, culverts and cross-drainage works
• Level crossing elimination and allied road works
• Station yard modifications and platform works
• Interface coordination with Northern Railway operating divisions

Execution

Work is sequenced around traffic blocks negotiated with the operating division, with fronts opened in parallel so no single block governs the programme. Earthwork and structures run concurrently along the alignment, and precast elements are cast off-corridor to compress block durations.

Outcome

On completion the corridor gains substantial line capacity, reducing congestion and transit times across Rajpura, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala and Bathinda — and unlocking additional freight paths through central Punjab.
